First Visit To Clark House Dental

Your first visit

We understand that you may feel apprehensive when visiting a different dentist for the first time. We would like to put your mind at rest with an explanation of what to expect during your first visit to Clark House Dental.

  • As you enter Clark House Dental, you will be greeted by our team member at the front desk. Please let them know if you would like a mini-tour of our practice.
  • All new clients will be provided with a Medical Questionnaire to fill out. This helps us to provide your dentistry in a safe way taking in to account your health conditions.
  • New clients seeing us for a free consultation will also fill out a Smile Questionnaire. This helps the dentist to discuss treatment options suitable for you.
  • We request that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment with the dentist, so we can get these information on time for your appointment. Your dentist will be informed about your arrival as soon as these forms are ready.

Your first visit is usually one of three

New Patient Examination is a comprehensive assessment when we will first hear all your concerns about your mouth, whether small or large.  While ensuring you are fully relaxed and comfortable, we will then conduct a thorough assessment that includes

  • Jaw joints examination
  • Lymph nodes assessment
  • Mouth cancer screening
  • Assessment of all teeth to rule out holes, abrasions, erosions, fractures etc.
  • Assessment of all existing restorations (fillings, crowns etc.)
  • Assessment of gums to rule out signs of gum disease, mobility etc.
  • Bite assessment
  • Cosmetic assessment of your smile

We might follow this with x-rays and other investigations as needed. If we identify problems, we will discuss all available options to fix them and provide you with a personalised treatment plan to obtain the best dental health, function, and aesthetics.

We offer complimentary free-of-charge consultations to discuss the available treatment options.

Whether you need braces, implants, or any cosmetic improvement, we will hear your concerns and expectations first. We will then go through the treatment options that can address your situation. The advantages/disadvantages of each option are explained and we will also show you before-after pictures similar to your situation. We will make sure that we give you all the information you need that helps you choose the right treatment option.

We see new patients having an emergency situation – pain, swelling, injury, broken tooth, lost filling/crown etc. After the initial assessment, we will try our best to help you recover from the situation by providing temporary treatment. We might bring you back for more definitive treatment at a future visit.

Please let our team member booking your first visit know about the emergency situation, so they can book enough time to provide temporary treatment if appropriate.

Our team will ensure that you have a great first visit.
